1. Save your breath! : don’t bother talking because it’s no use. ;(말해 봤자 입만 아프니·소용없으니) 잠자코 있어라 

ex) Let’s say that a colleague of yours is trying to ask a supplier to lower his prices, but he won’t do it and you know that he’s not going to lower his prices anymore. 

→ 이런 상황일 때 말한다. Don’t waste your time , save your breath! He’s not gonna lower his prices

 

2. Watch your back! : be careful of other people around you ; 뒤를 조심해라

 

3.Hold your horses! : Wait, slow down ;(명령문으로 쓰여) 흥분부터 하지 말라[잠깐 생각을 먼저 해 보아라] ; → 친구가 잡 인터뷰를 본 다음 여기 붙을거같아 , 당장 차 사야겠어 라고 말 할때 쓴다 , Hold your horses , 연락이 올 때까지 기다려 

 

4. Count your blessings :  Think of the good things ;자기가 누리는 좋은 것들에 감사하다

→ 친구가 좋은 직장에 일하고 있는데 승진을 원했지만 못했을 때, Count your blessings , 너는 이미 좋은 직업을 가지고 있고, 담에는 승진할 수 있을 거야 . . . . . 

 

5. Keep your chin up! : Don’t give up. Be strong ; 기운 내 , 우울할 때 사람들은 보통 고개를 숙이고 있으니깐 , 턱을 들어라, 기운 내! , 친구가 시험에 떨어졌을 때 , → Never mind, keep your chin up, I’m sure you’re going to pass the next time

 

6. Pull your socks up! : work harder 

약간 영국식 표현 ; 분발해! ; 의대에 가고싶은데 성적이 안좋은 사람한테 쓴다

Delivery of COVID vaccine needs 8,000 jumbo jets 

Whenever scientists create a vaccine for COVID-19, governments worldwide will be scrambling for cargo aircraft. Distributing the vaccine will be one of the biggest logistical operations ever. Aviation experts have forecast that transporting the vaccine across the globe will require around 8,000 747 freight planes. This is sufficient to ship 7.8 billion doses of any vaccine - one dose for everyone on Earth. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has warned governments they must start planning for the "mission of the century". It said: "Even if we assume that half the needed vaccines can be transported by land, the air cargo industry will still face its largest single transport challenge ever."

IATA has warned governments that many obstacles must be overcome to ensure the effective distribution of a vaccine. One critical element of this is the creation of temperature-controlled cargo hubs and warehouses. It is essential the vaccine be kept at the same temperature throughout its journey. This would require extensive training of staff worldwide, who must quickly become expert in safely handling and moving the vaccine. IATA said a further challenge would be security and cross-border controls. It said: "Vaccines will be highly valuable commodities. Arrangements must be in place to ensure that shipments remain secure from tampering and theft."
